Corpse Pose
Savasana

The ultimate relaxation pose — promote deep rest, rejuvenation, and integration of your yoga practice.
Corpse Pose, also known as Savasana in Sanskrit, is a yoga posture typically practiced at the end of a yoga session to promote relaxation and rejuvenation.
How to Perform
- Lie down on your back on a yoga mat, with your legs extended and your arms resting comfortably alongside your body, palms facing up.
- Allow your feet to fall open slightly and relax your toes.
- Close your eyes gently and soften your facial muscles, letting go of any tension in your jaw, forehead, and cheeks.
- Take a few deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth, allowing your body to relax with each breath.
- Scan your body from head to toe, consciously releasing any areas of tension or tightness that you may feel.
- Let go of any thoughts or distractions, allowing your mind to become quiet and still.
- Allow yourself to surrender completely to the present moment, letting your body and mind rest deeply.
- Remain in Corpse Pose for 5-10 minutes or longer, allowing yourself to fully experience the benefits of deep relaxation.
- To release the pose, slowly begin to deepen your breath and gently wiggle your fingers and toes, gradually waking up your body.
- Roll onto your right side in a fetal position, using your right arm as a pillow for your head.
- Take a few moments in this position, allowing yourself to reawaken gradually.
- When you're ready, press into your hands to come up to a seated position, bringing your hands to your heart center in prayer position (Anjali Mudra) to close your practice.
Corpse Pose is an essential part of yoga practice as it allows the body and mind to integrate the benefits of the preceding poses and promotes a sense of deep relaxation and peace. It can be practiced anytime you need to rest and rejuvenate, not just at the end of a yoga session.
